As the Senior Materials Planner, you will play a key role in supporting and ensuring efficient operations at our manufacturing plants in Brookings, SD, and Mocksville, NC. You will manage product categories across the network by coordinating with suppliers to place orders and ensure timely deliveries to our Larson sites.
This role involves close collaboration with demand planning, operations, warehousing, and logistics teams to maintain strong stakeholder relationships and track metrics that drive continuous improvement, high fill rates, and streamlined workflows in a fast-paced environment. You will also develop long-term plans considering inventory levels, obsolescence, lead times, product life cycles, and production capacity, while supporting the execution of the master production schedule.
The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of experience in Material Planning, Scheduling, or Supply Chain with MRP/ERP systems expertise with demonstrated strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with advanced Excel proficiency.
Location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule requiring in-office presence 3 days per week (Tue, Wed, Thu) at our Brookings, SD office with the ability to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.
What you will be doing:
Maintain system purchasing attributes for items and optimize inventory levels by reviewing forecasts, safety stock, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and related factors.
Prepare purchase orders aligned with production schedules, safety stock requirements, and inventory goals, while minimizing freight and material costs.
Plan and oversee the flow of raw materials into manufacturing to meet production needs.
Expedite the delivery of goods to both internal and external stakeholders as required.
Identify and resolve root causes of supplier issues to ensure smooth operations.
Manage the monthly Supplier Report Card reviews and escalate concerns as needed.
Manage the non-conformance process to ensure proper disposition approvals and receipt of credits.
Review data to identify component order quantities, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail while handling multiple tasks.
Support the master schedule by planning production based on customer demand and priorities.
Qualifications
5-7 years of relevant experience in Material Planning, Scheduling, or Supply Chain, with MRP/ERP knowledge (or a combination of education and experience).
Strong customer service skills, with effective oral and written communication abilities.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the MS Office Suite and advanced Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Solid judgment and business acumen, with a focus on problem resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
