SUMMARY: The Master Electrician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and installation of electrical systems on production equipment and facility. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance of electrical work with regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Partner with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
Lead with safety - both human and food safety. Adhere to electrical safety standards and LOTO (lockout/tagout) expectations.
Ensure compliance of the work of licensed and unlicensed maintenance technicians as it relates to MN Department of Labor (MNDOL) regulations and National Electric Code (NEC) for a Master Electrician. This applies to both maintenance and non-maintenance work.
Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NEC and DOL.
Troubleshoot, repair and correct electrical and process problems associated with equipment and facility.
Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using necessary equipment.
Test electrical equipment, such as AC/DC drives, motors and controls.
Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors and other electrical equipment and components.
Work with contractors to repair, install, remove and/or upgrade equipment, automatic control circuits and power distribution panels.
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities (PM's generated from CMMS)
Perform reactive maintenance activities through troubleshooting electrical failures.
Assist Maintenance Planners with job plan creation and work order planning.
Serve as electrical project resource as subject matter expert.
Serve as electrical resource for continuous improvement and root cause activities.
Support electrical training program for maintenance employees, including training focused on repair, maintenance, planning and layout, new installation of electrical circuits, equipment, etc.
Support electrical safety training programs for maintenance employees, including training related to electrical awareness, PPE requirements, electrical refresher, Arc flash training.
Responsible to oversee strict observance of all safety rules and will use extreme caution around moving machinery.
Responsible for general housekeeping of maintenance and production areas, actively working toward a clean and safe work environment.
Responsible for compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
Able to meet all attendance requirements based on Company's Attendance Policy.
Effectively cooperate with direct supervision as well as maintain professional and cooperative relationships with peers.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
License Required:
Minnesota Master Electrician license required. Must be registered with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry as a Class A Master Electrician.
Experience:
1 - 5 years of experience as Master Electrician.
Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment. Food production a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is required to stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, bend and climb stairs.
This employee will be required to twist and turn body while standing.
Must be able to work 10 hours - sitting 5% and standing 95%.
The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection required.
