Position Summary:

The Vice President, Business PMO and Supplier Management is responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight to the organization's vendor assessment, selection, onboarding, operations and optimization along with business initiative portfolio management activities. This role involves optimizing relationships with key suppliers, driving substantial cost savings, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across the enterprise, as well as business portfolio planning, project planning, execution, and delivery of strategic projects, aligning with the company's business objectives.

This is a full-time, exempt, remote position.

Base Salary Range: $225,000 - $275,000 annually.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Supplier Management:
    • Lead the team that develops and implements comprehensive supplier management strategies aligned with company goals and risk appetite.
    • Lead the Identification of and qualify high-performing suppliers across diverse categories (e.g., technology, IT, business and HR services).
    • Lead all aspects of the supplier lifecycle, from sourcing and negotiation to onboarding, performance management, and contract renewal.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management:
    • Secure optimal terms and conditions within contracts, negotiating competitive pricing, service levels, and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Proactively manage and renegotiate existing contracts to maximize value and address evolving needs.
    • Ensure contracts are compliant with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Performance Management and Risk Mitigation:
    • Develop and implement supplier and internal project/program performance evaluation metrics, conduct regular performance reviews and addressing any issues promptly.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with supplier relationships, including financial, operational, and cybersecurity risks.
    • Implement and monitor risk mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.
    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for project and portfolio success. Report on project status, risks, and issues to senior leadership as required.
  • Cost Optimization and Efficiency:
    • Analyze supplier spend and identify opportunities for cost reduction and increased efficiency.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives through improved sourcing, contract optimization, and strategic partnerships.
    • Drive continuous improvement in supplier management processes and tools.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and implement the strategic approach, project management strategies and processes for the PMO in alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate project management practices into overall business strategy.
  • Project Portfolio Management:
    • Oversee the entire business project portfolio, ensuring projects are prioritized, resourced, and delivered on time and within budget. Implement and maintain project management methodologies and standards.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Build and lead a high-performing project management team.
    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for Business PMO and Supplier Managagement staff.
  • Communication:
    • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Provide regular project updates, status reports, and risk assessments to relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the PMO. Evaluate and enhance project management processes and methodologies.
  • Governance and Standards:
    • Establish and enforce project management methodologies, standards, and best practices across the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The VP Business PMO and Supplier Management will lead a team of 5-8 employees.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing strategic supplier management programs.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to secure favorable terms in contracts.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks and drive innovative solutions with a focus on cost optimization and efficiency.
  • Deep understanding of contract management principles and best practices.
  • Proven ability to analyze and manage supplier performance, including identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management, process improvement, and organizational development.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex initiatives from initiation to completion, delivering results on time and within budget.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in project management.
  • 8+ years of experience in supplier management, procurement, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in a complex enterprise environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a PMO or similar function.
  • Experience managing and optimizing vendors supporting business, clinical, service, and/or technical functions with an overall contract value of more than $30 million

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, administration, project management or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification preferred.
