Champion the creation of risk assessments/PPE requirements.
Assist in ergonomic studies/improvements.
Organize regular Safety Audits for compliance to OSHA and internal requirements.
Organize the training in skilled operations (industrial equipment operation, confined space).
Complete OSHA reporting as needed.
Prepare and present required trainings.
Assist with incident responses and case management.
Organize Industrial Health studies as needed.
Schedule annual audiometric testing and other testing as needed.
Communicate health risks to employees.
Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
Environmental
Verify compliance to local, state, and federal regulations.
Interface with state, local, and federal agencies as required.
Audit and report hazardous materials.
Work with vendors to discard materials as necessary.
Complete reports as necessary internally/externally.
Education and Experience
Minimum 4-year Technical Degree or commensurate level of work related experience.
Solid understanding of OSHA, EPA/DEP regulations.
1-3 years+ experience in industrial setting required.
Prior experience working with state, local, and federal agencies preferred.
Prior experience with 6S and lean manufacturing programs a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Advanced computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite including not limited to Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Exceptional reading comprehension, problem solving skills, decision-making skills and attention to detail.
Verbally transfer information to and /or influence large groups, connect with front line employees.
Write, review, and approve documentation, reports, and records.
Mathematical skills including basic math problems and higher-level skills of financial management like budgeting and forecasting.
Demonstrated ability to grow and accept challenges.
Working Conditions
Mental demands include concentration/attentiveness, high level of decision-making, multi-tasking, independent judgement and discretion, flexibility in response to unpredictability, and emotional intelligence to cooperatively work with a variety of individuals.
Physical demands include ability to stand, walk, sit, lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, use both hands and legs, communicate orally, and hear conversation.
Varies from normal office environment to manufacturing plant environment.
Work hours may vary and require more than 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.
Personal protective equipment including steel toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, and cut resistant sleeves are required daily.
