The Vice President for International Affairs and the teams of staff in OVPIA's offices are the stewards of international activity across all campuses of Indiana University. We provide strategic leadership and advocacy for all international programs and projects and coordinate the resources necessary to sustain their growth. Our goal is to enable as many students, faculty, and staff as possible to pursue international and intercultural knowledge and experiences and to become engaged global citizens.
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) is a comprehensive office of international education and program development that stimulates, coordinates, and serves as a focus for international activities on the IU Indianapolis campus. We work with people and organizations on campus, in Indianapolis, and throughout the world to:
Develop IU Indianapolis students into global citizens
Facilitate international engagement and partnerships
Recruit and enroll international students
Provide transition support, expert advising, and visa services for international students and scholars
Oversee IU Indianapolis's study abroad activities
Increase cross-cultural understanding through events and programs, including International Festival and International House
Job Summary
The Videographer/Photographer for the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA) will work within the central Marketing and Communications team to visually tell the story of OIA's programs and services.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Brainstorms, develops, and executes video storytelling initiatives for all units of the office based in Indianapolis
Organizes, films, and edits video of events, faculty and student interviews, and other projects that capture the international dimension of teaching, learning, research, and service at IU
Creates and posts social media optimized videos promoting events and initiatives of OIA
Maintains and organizes the office video assets library
Manages all facets of photo shoots with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners
Takes event photography of on-campus international programming events as well as occasional off-campus events
Maintain and organize the office photography assets library
Works with central communications team to plan and execute visual social media content campaigns including weekly reels
Writes captions and descriptions for social media videos
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
Video production experience (filming, directing, and editing)
Photography experience

Proficient communication skills
Proficiency with video and photo editing using Adobe Creative Suite (Creative Suite provided) or alternate editors such as Davinci

Working Conditions / Demands
This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
A camera will be provided but the individual in this role may choose to use their own equipment if preferred. A dedicated video editing workstation will be made available on-site.

What the student will learn in this position
Students will learn to practice clear, professional written communication to parties within and outside the office. They will develop best practices to record, update, and keep information organized for the use of others within the office.
Students will gain knowledge of the process of implementing a new storytelling initiative from beginning to end.
Students will learn how to stay organized and manage their time effectively by balancing various administrative tasks in an office setting.
