Mechanical Engineering at VAA

The Mechanical team designs material handling, process ventilation and building safety systems, process and utility piping and heat exchangers, and building HVAC and plumbing systems for agribusiness, industrial and commercial facilities.

Your role:

  • Prepare proposals and required drafting fees. Accountable for drafting time and fees spent on projects.
  • Understand and convey scope, schedules and end-product needs to internal project team.
  • Layout plans, sections and details to specified VAA/client CAD standards working directly with engineers and project managers.
  • Accountable for all drawing content.
  • Review project documents for coordination with all disciplines and effectively resolve conflicts.
  • Participate in internal coordination meetings and client coordination meetings.
  • Prepare design/layout preliminary concepts and accurately communicate the content.
  • Prepare and edit specifications, coordinate with drawings. Review shop drawings.
  • Communicate with clients/contractors regarding RFI's and field questions.
  • Perform site visits as needed.
  • Provide direction and distribute work to technicians, designers, and engineers and provide performance feedback as requested. .
  • Mentor and train technical staff to produce high quality design services and deliverables.

Your resume must include:

  • Certificate in HVAC drafting or related courses and at least eight years of HVAC and plumbing design experience OR at least nine years of HVAC and plumbing design experience
  • Experience leading mechanical design team on multi-discipline projects
  • Proficiency in Revit 3D
  • Process and Utility Piping design, HVAC design and/or plumbing design experience (preferred).
