In this role you will be responsible for enhancing the core APIs and Server SDKs on the Braintree Payments platform

The Merchant Integrations team plays a pivotal role in empowering merchants to provide diverse payment options to their customers at checkout. Our focus is on crafting products that cater to the specific needs of both merchants and their developers, striving to deliver the most efficient and user-friendly integration solutions possible. In this position, you'll collaborate closely with teams dedicated to designing and maintaining Braintree's merchant-facing APIs and Server SDKs. This collaboration ensures a streamlined development process, ultimately enhancing the merchant experience and facilitating seamless payment integrations across various platforms.

As a Senior Product Manager on the Merchant Integrations team, you'll drive significant change across multiple fronts. You'll collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams, including product, development, global professional services, sales, and integration engineering, to shape and deliver world-class experiences for our customers worldwide. A key aspect of your role will be championing an API-first development approach within Braintree, fostering innovation and efficiency. Additionally, you'll spearhead the launch of new API capabilities, empowering top merchants to leverage cutting-edge features and functionalities offered by PayPal. Your work will directly influence how businesses interact with our platform, ultimately enhancing the global payments ecosystem.



Your day to day:



In this role you will




  • Strategize & Define best ways for merchants to enable integration via APIs and SDKs for new products to be launched into the market.






  • Coordinate across multiple PM's within the Merchant Integration organization who are experts in each of the individual APIs & SDKs, PM's who manage the consumer experience, and other PM stakeholders across PayPal.






  • Prioritize and maintain a balance between on-going maintenance/bugs, new feature requests and a need to keep integrations simple & flexible and continuously evolving with changes in technology and competitor landscape.






  • Do competitive analysis to inform areas of improvement or trends that we can learn from






  • Gain an "outside-in" perspective by speaking with a cross-section of developers and/or internal client facing teams with a goal to build a case to continuously evolve the client interfaces






  • Provide the right level of support and direction to keep the engineering team working efficiently and aligned with the overall product strategy






  • Participate in regular cadences (stand up's, retrospective, planning meetings) and be engaged with the team throughout the product life cycle.





What you need to bring




  • 5+ years of product management or other relevant experience


  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience


  • Experienced in designing and building REST or GraphQL APIs, SDKs, webhooks, server products and services





  • Expert at identifying merchant and user needs and pains point through discovery processes, interviews, data analysis. Can validate product ideas/requirements and prototypes






  • Partners well with engineering and cross functional teams to build and ship functionality that delights users and API developers, resulting in a measurable impact






  • Expert in developing a vision, strategy, and roadmap for APIs and Server SDK based products.






  • Can easily define key success metrics






  • Has experience writing PRDs, manage backlogs, prioritize features vs tech debt






  • We welcome experienced engineers, solution engineers, architects, professional services and others with experience in APIs and/or SDKs looking to switch career into Product Management

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is
$96900 to $234300
