Winthrop University's Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Educational Studies is seeking a forward-thinking tenure-track assistant professor to deliver instruction in a range of educational programs that emphasize leadership, learning, and organizational change. Ideal candidates will demonstrate leadership, teaching excellence, scholarly research, and active involvement within the university and local community. The role includes participating in the launch of a new interdisciplinary EdD program, with responsibilities including partnership development, course design, and student recruitment for the university's first professional doctoral program.

Major Responsibilities:



  • Teach courses in educational leadership programs to include the EdD in Leadership and Innovation, the MEd in Educational Leadership, the EdS in Educational Leadership, and/or other education areas 

  • Serve as a productive faculty member in all areas of university expectations (student intellectual development, scholarly activity, professional stewardship, and academic responsibility) 

  • Assist in a variety of program initiatives, curriculum development, and accreditation activities 

  • Facilitate cohort development, including recruitment and selection processes 

  • Advise and mentor graduate students 

  • Identify, build relationships with, and sustain collaborative initiatives with multiple stakeholders 

  • Serve on university, college, and departmental committees 

  • Actively participate in state and national organizations 

  • Engage in teaching and other program-related activities in the evenings, summers, online, and occasionally weekends, as needed



Employment Conditions


Position is full-time, nine-month, tenure-track with option of summer employment if enrollment is sufficient.

Qualifications:



Required



  • Doctorate in an educational field at time of appointment

  • Experience as a principal and/or in district leadership position

  • Demonstrated leadership in multi-stakeholder initiatives

  • Ability to teach courses in educational research methodology and/or theories and practice of organizational change

  • Demonstrated management and organizational skills



Desired



  • Experience teaching at the college level

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a successful record of scholarship

  • Skill in developing and delivering online courses

  • Knowledge of NELP accreditation and reporting

  • History of providing mentorship and support
