ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
University Communications & Marketing (UCM) is responsible for producing and promoting university news, coordinating media relations, managing crisis communications, conceiving, and implementing advertising and communications campaigns, producing university publications, and maintaining major university websites.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Web Developer will serve as part of the Digital Team within University Communications and Marketing (UCM) and will help develop and maintain web development projects for the university under the direction of the University Webmaster. This fully remote position will use analytics, metrics and best practice information to improve the university's websites from both a technical and accessibility perspective. The Web Developer also provides support for various projects jointly managed by UCM and Information Technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain branded templates for the USF content management system under the direction of the University Webmaster.
- Develop templates with a clear understanding of how end-users will work with them.
- Test templates for browser compatibility and accessibility.
- Assist with CMS administrative tasks
- Assist with technical support tickets.
- Contribute to official documentation
Collaborate with IT and colleagues with web responsibilities throughout the university on digital presence initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field with two years of related experience; or six years of related experience; or a combination of related education and work experience.
PREFERRED:
At least four years of experience in website development; previous experience with content management systems;
previous experience implementing accessibility standards; good communication skills (written and verbal); ability to work
independently and as a member of a team; ability to work on several projects simultaneously, and strong attention to
detail.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, and XSL. Proficient in cross-browser/cross-platform testing, accessibility standards, and mobile/responsive development.
