Starting Rate: $33.62 - After hire, pay increases are dependent on length of service, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.

Role Summary: 

The City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Services is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual for an exciting new initiative in our parks system.  This position will be charged with activating many of Ann Arbor’s neighborhood and regional parks.  With over 160 parks, this position will develop unique and varied programming for the community in the parks closest to residents' homes as well as some of our community parks.  Key responsibilities will include leading the planning, execution and evaluation of a diverse set of events and programs that engage all ages and areas of the city.  These events may include environmental education, community wide events, and smaller neighborhood events to help build relationships and community. This position will also focus on promoting recreational activities and services to help foster partnerships with community organizations, schools, and businesses.  This is a unique opportunity to be a part of Ann Arbor's Parks and Recreation staff team.   

Education, Training and Experience Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree  

  • Experience supervising others: minimum two years experience 

  • Recreation program and / or facility management: minimum two years experience 

  • The City of Ann Arbor, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience 

Education, Training and Experience Preferred: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreations Management, Facilities Management, Recreation Management, Commercial Recreation, or related field. 

Licensing Requirements:


  • Current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications.

  • Other certifications may be required based on site specific responsibilities (i.e. – Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguarding, etc.)

  • Valid Driver’s License.
