Job Description:

Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Athletics

o Oversight and management of all departments in the Student Affairs Division including Student Activities & Engagement, Residence Life, Community Relations & Engagement, Health & Counseling Services, Career Services, Student Conduct, Student Union and Athletics operations.

o Provide leadership in the co-curricular activities to enhance student engagement, satisfaction and retention.

o Serve as a member of the President’s cabinet and provide direction to Student Affairs units towards implementing campus strategic plan initiatives.

o Oversight of budgeting and fiscal activities of all Student Affairs departments including all Student Activities fee monies.

o Oversight and management of all Student Affairs spaces including Student Union, student lounge and recreation space, and other facilities utilized by students in co-curricular activities.

o Integration of the athletics program into the overall student engagement efforts and programs of the Student Affairs division.

Job Summary

Advances the University’s goals of student success and retention through leadership, direction, and strategic management of programs enhancing student engagement outside the classroom. Acts as primary liaison with academic units regarding development of strategic University initiatives. Ensures the safety and accountability of student organizations.

Essential Functions

Must have strong organization, project management and communication skills. Must understand the physical and mental health needs of students. Must understand financial and budgeting processes. Must be a strong supporter of students and the benefits of learning outside of the classroom. Understanding of the role that intercollegiate athletics plays in the engagement, satisfaction and development of college students.

Physical Effort

Minimal physical effort is required. Mostly sedentary.
