Advanced Planning Internal Director (Remote)

In this role the primary responsibility is to provide high level advanced planning support to our distribution partners in conjunction with the sale of annuity products in the areas of retirement planning, estate planning, financial and tax planning and general tax/legal issues relating to such areas. The primary job functions and areas of expertise include: expert casework assistance; in-depth knowledge of advanced planning concepts and techniques which typically requires a JD, CPA, or extensive work experience in given discipline, the creation of written marketing and sales concept materials, in depth product and concept knowledge to use advanced planning software; good presentation, training and communication skills. Conducts technical analysis of new advanced planning ideas/positioning. Conducts technical tax and legal research and writing, as needed, for casework or development of advanced planning concept materials. Stays abreast of legislative and/or tax changes that affect concepts discussed.  In addition, the individual may be responsible for presenting to our distribution partners or internally on a variety of advanced planning topics through webinars or in person presentations.

Responsibility Description


  • Providing one-on-one case consultation and case design services for Prudential wholesalers and third-party producers to help implement various retirement, financial, tax and estate planning concepts and strategies in connection with the sale of annuity products. (60%)

  • Stay current on legislative and tax changes that could affect retirement planning for the annuity industry. Maintain and expand knowledge and establish ongoing expertise on market trends that could affect the industry. Provide technical expertise and guidance regarding legislative and tax changes that could affect the annuity industry. (10%)

  • Develop/Write marketing, sales and educational materials for producer, client and/or internal use relating to advanced planning strategies and concepts and in response to legislative changes. (15%)

  • Conduct in person or virtual presentations on advanced planning topics. (15%)

Functional Knowledge

- 7-10 years of financial services experience

- JD degree and/or other specialized designation (e.g., MBA/CPA/CFP/CLU/ChFC) preferred or extensive work experience in given field

- Extensive knowledge of retirement, estate and tax planning concepts and strategies

- Excellent technical research and writing skills

- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communication with producers and adept at presenting sophisticated topics in simplified terms

-Proven understanding of advanced planning concepts

-Expertise in the creation of written marketing and sales concept materials

-Knowledge of annuity products

-Strong problem solving, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

- FINRA Series 6 and 63 (or must be acquired within 180 days of hire)

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $148,800.00 to $201,200.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
