Role Overview
As the Interconnection Manager, you will shape and support US Solar's grid interconnection strategies. You will oversee the entire interconnection process, from initial application to final approval. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with distribution utilities and various grid integration working groups. This position will be the technical lead for all interconnection designs, studies and policy engagements and will work closely with the Operations and Development teams to navigate various utility processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute US Solar's interconnection strategies to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards and company goals
Develop and maintain a company-wide interconnection technical requirements database for each utility
Review interconnection study results and, as needed, recommend alternative solutions to enable project deployment
Engage with utilities to enforce compliance with tariff requirements
Manage engineering consultants to perform power flow studies
Generate interconnection feasibility assessments and cost estimates
Identify technologies and solutions to overcome distributed energy resource interconnection hurdles
Identify potential risks associated with interconnection activities and develop mitigation plans
Manage budget for interconnection activities, ensuring that costs align with the project's financial objectives
Core Competencies:
5+ years of distribution utility and renewable energy grid integration experience
Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with utilities and other key interconnection stakeholders
Experience designing interconnection facilities
Knowledge of power system studies
In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, medium voltage design, protective relaying, SCADA communication systems and construction codes and standards
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate complex engineering and regulatory matters
Effective working individually as well as with a team
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, Electrical Engineering preferred
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Experience participating in utility industry working groups
Knowledge of and passion for the solar marketplace and renewable industry a plus
