The Director of Maintenance oversees and implements company policies and procedures related to trucking maintenance across all facilities, managing a large fleet of trucks, and ensuring efficient shop operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and monitor truck maintenance policies and procedures
Manage and support maintenance personnel across all facilities
Provide product and service information to customers and resolve issues
Ensure new trucks meet company specifications
Review and address road call reports and implement training as needed
Improve shop efficiencies and reduce costs
Support branch managers, office staff, and shop personnel
Keep shop resources and equipment up to date
Review training needs and recommend classes or in-house training
Visit locations to support and recommend operational improvements
Review DSP performance and communicate with branch management teams
Write damage appraisals and schedule repairs for accident trucks
Approve and process body shop invoices and hardware orders
Research and recommend equipment and truck purchases
Requirements:
10+ years of diesel mechanical experience
Management experience
Union shop exposure a plus
Relevant Skills:
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance
Experience with fleet maintenance management software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
Excellent leadership and management skills
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
Experience with budgeting and cost control
Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance processes
Certification in diesel mechanics or related field (ASE, etc.)
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range: $110,000 - $150,000 per year
