Job Description:

Summary      Accountable for credit and financial analysis, loan documentation and risk rating.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Analyze credit and cash flow of prospective borrowers and existing members.

  • Evaluate the borrower’s degree of credit worthiness.

  • Assist Loan Officer in preparing loan presentations for Credit Committee approval.

  • Perform annual analysis of existing member loans; recommends credit risk rating according to Policy.

  • Spread, analyze and compare financial statements, business plans, and other financial data for new loan prospects and existing members to peer group/industry standards, when applicable, during the application process.  Prepare detailed financial analysis in report form for credit review purposes.

  • Work with and accompany Loan Officers to meetings with existing members or new prospects to acquire all information necessary to properly and accurately access the financial status of the account.  Document meeting notes in a file memo.

  • Keep abreast of new developments in credit analysis and recommend procedural improvements to the AVP Senior Credit Analyst/Portfolio Manager.

  • Visit client operations to review operation and condition of collateral including walking construction sites, climbing stairs and ladders in year-round weather.

  • Other related duties/tasks as needed.

  • Promote overall BSA Compliance by adhering to all BSA and OFAC Regulations specific to job function and by assisting BSA Department as necessary with any departmental function specific items.

  • Will actively promote the security and privacy of member and employee information through adherence to both information security and physical security policies, procedures, and governing regulations. Training will be completed at least annually for Information Security topics, BSA, and GLBA; annual BSA training will be position specific. Annual training will also include courses on any of the following regulations as they relate to the position described herein: SAFE ACT, Regulations B, C, D, E CC, DD, and Z as well as any training deemed necessary to promote adherence to applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements


  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from members of management and credit union members.

  • Ability to spread large, complex financial statements and tax returns and complete cash flow analysis.

  • Ability to make pertinent comments relating to the current credit risk as reflected by the analysis.

  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision while performing duties.

Education/Training Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management from four-year college or university; one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Valid driver license required.
