The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", and the Miller School of Medicine has an exciting career opportunity for a Director of Compliance in the Department of Medical Compliance. The Director, Compliance is part of the University of Miami Health System Privacy and Data Security Team, under the direction of the University of Miami Health System Chief Privacy and Data Integrity Officer. The overarching responsibility will be to support the Chief Privacy and Data Integrity Officer, especially in the areas of online privacy, data security, compliance training, and investigations.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Juris Doctor Degree. Certification in Healthcare Compliance, information privacy and security is desirable. At least five years of experience in legal and/or compliance in the healthcare field. In-depth knowledge related to HIPAA/HITECH. Knowledge of information privacy and data security as well as human subject research. Prior work experience in a contract management role, such as purchasing or contracting. Experience in applying organizational standards when developing requests for proposals, negotiating terms, and drafting privacy and data security related contracts. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow and understand. Highly experienced in federal/state statutes and regulation especially applicable in a healthcare environment, including the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and Human Subject Research Regulations. Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and motivational skills. Demonstrated strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Possess a strong sense of ethics and personal responsibility. Ability to keep and maintain confidentiality. Excellent negotiating and persuasive skills, both in one-on-one and group situations. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
