Directly leads and provides support to the business with specific focus on optimizing engagement, productivity, and effectiveness of the human resources within teams. This may include oversight (and potentially delivery) of process training, employee relations, performance management, compensation planning, employee engagement, and change initiatives. Leads and develops a team of HR professionals through effective coaching and performance management.
This role supports our laboratory teams in Madison, WI with dotted line responsibility for other labs in the U.S. and worldwide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic partner to leaders by understanding business needs and market dynamics to align and develop the organization and frame strategic choices.
Directly and indirectly lead HR teams that support large multi-site business units.
Partner with business/functional/site leadership to create and support an inclusive culture focused on open communication, world class service, accountability, diversity, development, and integrity.
Act as a change agent by diagnosing needs of the organization as it relates to people (processes, systems, resources) and operationalizing change through collaboration, clear communication, and effective project management.
Partner with the functional leaders to assess capabilities across the teams and strategically plan workforce needs accordingly. Ensure that appropriate training opportunities are identified and provided to employees to grow personal, career, and organizational development capabilities.
Be a partner in the development of strategic programs, applying functional knowledge, and understanding of organizational effectiveness to influence key decisions and implement associated HR components.
Proactively reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of talent management strategies and plans.
Directly manages team of HR resources; including setting and managing to team goals, and providing ongoing coaching, development, and performance management of team members.
Partner with business leadership to develop effective incentives for motivating and driving high performance (may include sales incentive plan development, etc.).
Supports hiring managers and recruiting partners in talent acquisition processes.

Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Ability to travel between sites in Madison.
Ability to work up to 10% during off hours including nights and weekends to support the needs of the lab.
Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
12+ years of experience in the Human Resources function with progressively increasing responsibility.
3+ years of experience leading teams or direct reports.
Demonstrated awareness of regulations (federal, state & local) and compliance expectations related human resource management, employee relations, and labor practices.
Demonstrated ability to provide effective guidance and coaching in a variety of situations (developmental, disciplinary, etc.).
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree (MBA or MLR, MHR, etc.).
PHR or SPHR certification.
HR experience with a large non-exempt population.
Experience working in a regulated environment.
Multisite including international experience.
