Responsible for oversight, direction, and forward thinking of all EOG geophysical efforts. Provide technical guidance to division G&G staff regarding geophysical program. Oversee, develop and provide training to division G&G staff. Oversee and prioritize group projects for division support. Coordinate efforts with both the Chief Petrophysicist, Chief Geologist, and Chief Geochemist for EOG. Candidate must be a 2/D-3/D Seismic interpreter, prospector, grounded in all facets of exploration geophysics. Position will entail regional and detailed structural and stratigraphic mapping; sequence stratigraphic evaluations; evaluation and development of new trends and drilling opportunities. Will oversee geophysical work done of behalf of EOG by external contractors or consultants.
20+ years’ experience in exploration and developmental geophysics and the duties as described. Must be a self-motivated prospect generator able to work in a multi-discipline, team environment. Must be current in 3-D workstations skills. Landmark and Petra software a plus. Strengths should include integrating geologic data with seismic interpretation. Willingness to incorporate new technologies. Desire to develop/mentor staff. Strong communication skills. A BS and MS degree in Geology/Geophysics is required. Experience with horizontal drilling required.
