SUMMARY: This position is funded by State Compensatory Education funds. The At-Risk Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position responsible for reviewing and analyzing student educational records and educationally disadvantaged status to determine eligibility for at-risk programs and track services provided by the State Compensatory Education program.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.



  • Reviews student records upon enrollment to identify at-risk status in collaboration with counselors, advisors, registrars, and Site-Based Enrollment Coordinator

  • Maintains and updates at-risk records, including review for students meeting exit criteria

  • Determines student eligibility for free- or reduced-lunch program

  • Trains staff on at-risk criteria

  • Communicates at-risk status and criteria met with appropriate staff, such as campus principal or counselor

  • Supports implementation and evaluation of SCE programs, such as preparation of data files, providing a list of students for eligible programs, or preparing reports on program effectiveness

  • Collaborates with campus staff as needed to support at-risk students

  • Manages the allocation of services to at-risk students and uses data to determine whether or not services are effective;

  • Participates in Needs Assessments to analyze academic performance of at-risk students;

  • Contacts School districts to acquire student records information for identification of at-risk as needed;

  • Manages projects and executes tasks related to at-risk student data collection and analysis;

  • Collects and audits Federal Income Forms for accuracy, including follow up with families to update any missing or inaccurate information, to determine eligibility for Title funding;

  • Reviews student records to analyze at-risk status based on the 13 at-risk indicators used in Texas;

  • Maintains up to date electronic and paper files in preparation for monthly audits of records for Federal Income Forms and at-risk indicators;

  • Creates monthly report regarding free and reduced lunch status;

  • Submits at-risk reports at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year to update at-risk status in the Student Information System for submission of PEIMS data;

  • Coordinates with school counselors regarding academic records;

  • Communicates with parents tactfully and with sensitivity, recognizes and maintains confidentiality in job-related matters;

This position may perform other duties as assigned in alignment with the SCE program. This position may not perform:



  • Duties related to testing, such as test administration

  • Legislatively mandated duties or activities that are specifically allocated to a regular education position, such as acting in capacity as a school counselor

  • Activities or duties that would supplement anything other than the regular education program, such as parent/family liaison

Supervisory Responsibilities:


This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.


MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 



  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Three (3 years of experience working with records or working with at risk students, OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.


OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIOS: 



  • Demonstrated organizational skills and knowledge of systematic filing procedures

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to use web-based database programs to enter and monitor education information

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Ability to clear required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  



  • Previous experiencing managing projects involving people outside of department

  • Experience working with student records
