Classic hosting and compute services division is looking for a senior Unix Domain expert to provide UNIX production support for Americas region. Position is based in Raleigh, NC. The role involves management of the day to day deployment, operational and engineering support for all UNIX platforms.

The role is in critical path for supporting vulnerability management work mandated by regulatory driven projects such as (Monetary Authority of Singapore) MAS Notice 655. It is also part of the bare minimum lights on support required to run and maintain the AM Unix infrastructure which consists of 12,000 servers hosting more than 800 applications. This role is required to support complex Life Cycle Management projects such as Red Hat Pacemaker to Symantec VCS migration, Solaris/SLES decommission, Web based Java Application Platform 9 migration, Oracle database optimization.

This position is responsible for supporting operations of the enterprise level UNIX systems. Supporting distributed Compute environments. Position is responsible for managing a large 12,000 server environment consisting of Physical and Virtual machines:

The scope of services supported includes but are not limited to:


  • Support day-to-day operations of the storage environment and develop business processes to ensure compliance to defined SLA/ OLA, firm's guidelines and regional regulations
  • Collect and evaluate service delivery metrics
  • Provide support for all Unix services located in region (even if used by other regions)
  • Support incidents that affect the availability of Unix services, track issue management and resolution
  • Change Management, including weekend change coordination and prioritization
  • Problem Management, including continuous improvement through formal root cause analysis
  • Project Management, including formal scope, proposal, achievement and result management.
  • Risk and audit Management

Experience with Red Hat Linux, Solaris, Satellite, Ansible, Perl, Shell, Python or another high-level programming language is highly desirable. Your skills and experience

We are looking for a senior Unix systems administrator.


  • Multi-year (10 ) dynamic experience in supporting enterprise Unix/Linux production environments.
  • General understanding of Linux internals (system calls, file systems, processes, etc.)
  • General understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols (HTTP, FTP, NFS, etc.)
  • Comfortable dealing with users with varying levels of IT knowledge
  • Proven knowledge of container operations and understanding of how to fix/identify problems
  • Experience with building open-source software from source code
  • Experience using the typical Linux toolbox of open source software and automated configuration management tools e.g. Satellite, Ansible, Puppet
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical executives and managers
