Job Summary

This individual will provide a strong technical knowledge of Infrastructure technologies namely networking and system environments. The individual will be able to consult, plan and deploy strategic solutions throughout the CooperVision environment. The individual will work within and represent the Global Infrastructure Services (GIS) organization and its practices leading a Global team through operational and project deliverable tasks and be able to prioritize in accordance with business drivers. They will be responsible for, assessing systems, communication opportunities, develop recommendations for improvement, and implement approved changes. They will work closely with business units to determine requirements for new opportunities and work alongside them to deploy the solutions. 

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:


  • Lead a team of Infrastructure and Application Delivery engineers, who manage mission-critical systems, focusing on networking, storage, operating systems and delivery of business applications.

  • Provide standard processes and procedures for all infrastructure activities, such as upgrades, installing patches, system tuning, backup and recovery, and capacity planning.

  • Provide technical leadership, supervision and mentorship to the Infrastructure and Application Delivery teams as well as other support teams.

  • Provide recommendations to management regarding team staffing; optimal use of permanent and contract employee’s, ensuring 24x7 coverage as needed.

  • Provide input into the planning of Capital and Operational expenses.

  • Provide architectural consulting expertise, guidance, and assistance to GIS team, Global IT, local management in accordance with global standards and practices.

  • Maintain and develop in-depth knowledge of company’s existing architecture/infrastructure, and technology portfolio.

  • Document, communicate, and enforce global technology standards policies.

  • Make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in IT infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction in accordance with GIS practices and standards.

  • Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Act as GIS tier III escalation for Global issues and manage through to resolution.

  • Interface as key Infrastructure and Application Delivery technical focal point for project teams.   Evaluate, manage and distribute related requests across the team.

  • Provide technical input, expertise, and recommendations to management regarding future technical roadmap decisions such as moving from on premise to a cloud based footprint.

  • Provide timely and concise summaries of project status to manager.

  • Communicates and applies project standards. 

  • Consistently delivers high-quality services to the user community. 

  • Plan and lead testing, implementation, training, support and documentation of projects.

  • Assist team members both internal and external, through creation of technical documentation and review.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Management Skills


  • Ability to oversee and lead day-to-day activities for a team of engineers.

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to incorporate input from other GITS teams (Service Design, Application and Continuity Services, Regional IT Operations and Security teams and enhancing that input to formulate and ensure compliance with team standards.

Strategy, Planning & Deployment


  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of company’s & Information Technology’s strategic business plans.

  • Develop strategic solutions within the IAD team.

  • Provide architectural consulting expertise, guidance, and assistance to GIS team, Global IT, local management in accordance with global standards and practices.

Technical Competency


  • Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.

  • Strong knowledge and experience of networking, storage, collaboration and application delivery.

  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software evaluation principles and practice.

  • Proven project planning and management experience.

  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Sedentary to light physical effort necessary to perform the job. 

  • Extensive contact with employees and external business partners and vendors.

  • Global Travel will likely be required.

Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or 8 Years of Related Work Experience

  • Experience with some of the following VMWare, Cisco technologies, Citrix, Storage Networking, AWS, Azure.

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, The expected wage range for the position is between $114,443 - $152,190 and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future.  This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
