Health and Wellness:

Colgate's Counseling Center is committed to providing high-quality, confidential, ethical, and culturally affirming mental health services to Colgate University students. Staff members work as a team to offer services from an integrated clinical/developmental model to assist students as they pursue their education.
Primarily responsible for providing confidential counseling/psychological services provided to students. Areas of focus include responsibility for:
Mental Health
Demonstrated expertise, experience, and academic credentials/certifications in mental health at the counselor level. Theory based and practical expertise across a broad range of mental health issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, diversity (racial, gender, international), and sexual orientation). Demonstrated expertise in crisis management.
Counseling
Demonstrated expertise and counseling skills sufficient to provide psychological and counseling services focused on the needs of college students. Ability to direct, diagnose and provide counseling as a generalist on a broad range of issues/problems.
Training and Outreach
Demonstrated ability to deliver training and outreach to faculty (to identify student issues) and students (training on suicide prevention, diversity, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trust and confidence of all Colgate community members for the purpose of student referrals.
Ability to maintain appropriate certifications and improve mental health and counseling competencies.
Administrative
Demonstrated ability to effectively and consistently apply time management, problem solving, and planning skills in the implementation of processes or programs. Demonstrated ability to effectively use technical solutions to assist in the collection/maintenance of key data and records and within university, division and department guidelines. Demonstrated ability to consistently meet functional accountabilities while staying within assigned budget constraints.
Multicultural Knowledge / Intersectional Identities
Knowledge sufficient to effectively engage students on issues of diversity. Demonstrated ability to be a strong advocate for diversity with proven ability to work with diverse populations. Knowledge and skill in understanding issues of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, and spiritual backgrounds and their intersectionality sufficient to assist students with making the connection between their identities within the context of a small, private, residential, rural liberal arts college.

A Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related mental health field is required.
