Summary


The Quality Assurance Supervisor (QAS) is responsible for promoting and maintaining high-quality standards for completed products leaving the door shop.  This will be achieved by inspecting products both during the production phase and the post-production phase to identify mistakes, poor workmanship, damage, and defects, and by communicating with supervisors, crew leaders, and their personnel throughout the process when attention to a specific issue is necessary. The QAS will perform daily comprehensive physical inspections of 5% to 10% of total units produced by the shop; analyze available data to isolate issues contributing to poor final quality; make recommendations to supervisors and crew leaders on how to change production methods to improve final quality via continual process improvement techniques; and communicate vendor defects of notable substance to the purchasing department. 


Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, shop drawings, and written instructions that enable you to complete the work.

  • Perform on-site inspections of products at all stages of production to ensure the highest possible quality standards.

  • Analyze data and error logs to determine points of failure and develop solutions.

  • Create and present recommendations to streamline production processes in ways that heighten quality standards.

  • Ensure final products adhere to all specifications and requirements.

  • Be able to inspect products and determine if they adhere to the company’s quality standards and generate the appropriate reports when they do not.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Be able to communicate with management and other team members.

  • Set and achieve personal and team goals. Demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles.

  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.

  • To be knowledgeable of Company policies and procedures. To administer the same on a fair and equitable basis across the workforce. To manage, direct, and discipline direct reports in an appropriate and respectful tone, manner, and demeanor.

  • Anticipate obstacles and act mindfully to mitigate them.

  • Promote two-way communication by keeping employees informed and soliciting their comments and suggestions. Ensure an open line of communication so subordinates understand how their job affects others both upstream and downstream. Engage employees to think and act beyond their immediate job function.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications 


The list of qualifications below is required to be considered for the role of Quality Assurance Supervisor. 



  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or one to three years of related work experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially in roles related to quality control and operational logistics.

  • Experience managing 1-4 associates in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, blueprints, shop drawings, and written instructions that determine the method and sequence of assembling parts.

  • Demonstrated ability to read a tape measure and be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • The ability to learn software programs such as Excel, Outlook, WMS, Agility, and the Epicore warehouse management system.

  • Be certified in the use of all appropriate BROSCO material handling equipment.

  • Have reliable means of transportation to and from the worksite.
