The Mass General Brigham Sports initiative launched in 2020 with the goal of creating a regional, national and international hub for Sports Medicine and related Specialties, leveraging the combined strengths of our system of acute, specialty hospitals and post-acute care to deliver the right care for the right patients at the right time and location.
General Overview
The Financial Coordinator of Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine is responsible for supporting Sports Medicine service billing, financial reporting and accounting processes, selected budget matters, ad hoc analysis, and other projects. Specific responsibilities include numerous monthly close related activities, such as preparing journal entries and maintaining financial statements, while working within established timelines. The Finance Coordinator will work independently on weekly and monthly tasks that are required to be completed according to established deadlines. There will be opportunities for involvement in a range of finance activities as Sports Medicine strives to identify process efficiencies in a growing and complex environment.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for billing-related work for services provided by Sports Medicine athletic training department including preparing non-patient billing requests, reviewing outstanding accounts receivable, and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Monitor and record revenue and cash activities related to the Sports Medicine performance center.
• Assist in department and project expense tracking (monthly cost center reviews, expense approvals, etc.). Track invoice and payment status for invoices and billing agreements. Troubleshoot problems as necessary and ensure invoices are paid timely and accurately.
• Support the financial month-end close process which may include preparing standard journal entries and analysis.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis of issues to support management inquiries and assist with departmental special projects as directed by leadership.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree, Accounting or related field required.
• Two to three years relevant work experience required in healthcare, business, or related environment with experience in accounting and budgeting.
• A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
• Proficient in MS Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and ensure confidentiality guidelines are maintained.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization. Strong customer service & relationship management skills.
• Able to collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds, and levels within and external to the organization.
• Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and able to take initiative. Flexible in handling multiple tasks and deadline pressures. Able to work well independently and in a team.
• Maintains positive attitude and impeccable integrity, with focus on accomplishment of department goals and system's mission.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, in addition to strong customer service & relationship management skills.
