Tax Manager: focused on client management, provides strategic tax advice and is a leader for the tax team, reviewing returns and providing guidance to the team. This position requires a combination of strong technical tax knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering client-focused solutions.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored tax advice and services. Promptly respond to client inquiries and ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
Proactively consult with clients to discuss and review clients' financial positions, tax strategies, and upcoming changes in tax legislation that may impact them.
Mentor and train less experienced staff members and new hires in tax principles and firm practices. Develop/improve training materials and programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement effective tax planning strategies for clients to minimize liabilities and comply with all applicable laws. Stay informed of new tax laws and regulations.
Assist in managing the tax team's daily operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and exceptional service delivery. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Identify potential tax-related risks and develop risk mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards of the accounting profession.
Continuously seek ways to improve internal processes and client service delivery. Implement innovative solutions that enhance the firm's tax service offerings.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; a Master's degree in Taxation is highly desirable.
CPA certification required.
Minimum of 5 years of tax management experience in a CPA firm.
Proven track record of managing client relationships and developing tax strategies.
Strong leadership skills with experience in training and mentoring team members.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Deep understanding and knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Ability to detail-review projects, understanding the balance between time minimization and providing opportunities for new staff to grow
Proficiency in tax software (Thomson Reuters) and Microsoft Office Suite.
