Job Description:

Tax Manager: focused on client management, provides strategic tax advice and is a leader for the tax team, reviewing returns and providing guidance to the team. This position requires a combination of strong technical tax knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering client-focused solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored tax advice and services. Promptly respond to client inquiries and ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Proactively consult with clients to discuss and review clients' financial positions, tax strategies, and upcoming changes in tax legislation that may impact them.
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff members and new hires in tax principles and firm practices. Develop/improve training materials and programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement effective tax planning strategies for clients to minimize liabilities and comply with all applicable laws. Stay informed of new tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist in managing the tax team's daily operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and exceptional service delivery. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Identify potential tax-related risks and develop risk mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards of the accounting profession.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve internal processes and client service delivery. Implement innovative solutions that enhance the firm's tax service offerings.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; a Master's degree in Taxation is highly desirable.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of tax management experience in a CPA firm.
  • Proven track record of managing client relationships and developing tax strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in training and mentoring team members.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Ability to detail-review projects, understanding the balance between time minimization and providing opportunities for new staff to grow
  • Proficiency in tax software (Thomson Reuters) and Microsoft Office Suite.
