The Director of QA/QC position is responsible for the coordination, planning, strategy and supervision of the contract/project quality management system to ensure specific contracts/projects meet or exceed established quality control standards and customer specifications. This role will also have managerial oversight and review of the work flow process of company employees, subcontractors and vendors relating to QA/QC activities including verification of quality records, documentation, lab operations and goals, non-destructive testing and applicable codes and standards. Main Responsibilities
Quality and Technical Mentorship:
Directs and mentors the QA/QC department managers.
Works closely with MWC department managers and ODOT to ensure QA/QC contract requirements.
Ensures that QC managers provides definition, development of project product quality assurance strategy across the region.
Develops and implements ongoing quality improvement processes with interdepartmental teams to improve financial goals.
Set targets for managers to produce consistency and quality through the design and definition of QA metrics
Conduct meetings with new and existing subcontractors, vendors and the project management team prior to the start of each new phase to discuss issues that affect quality.
Lead and conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards desired for each definable feature and verify that checklists are being used and signed off prior to placement of project materials including aggregate, additives, concrete, asphalt, and Steel.
Verify that documents are verified to confirm all materials received for the project are in conformance with each specific project's established standards and are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use on the project.
Verify that the QC Managers' schedule, document and maintain the results of all code and independent inspections and re-inspect to ensure all non-conformance issues are corrected.
Handles statistical method reporting and testing in accordance with national ACI, ASTM, AASHTO standards.
Conducts a regular review of existing QA/QC processes to improve standard methodologies, QA/QC efficiency, customer relationships and overall operational efficiencies.

Physical Requirements

Collaborating with staff, management, employees at their worksites is important. Frequent travel is required, often up to several hours of driving per day to visit bid work sites, training, attend/conduct presentations meetings, and/or seminars. Will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and moderate to high noise levels and construction/production/QA/QC dust, chemicals and other similar contaminants. Exposure to variable weather conditions is likely during travel.
