Under Limited supervision, this position will maintain and supervise the installation and maintenance of the mainframe environment, keeping IBM and ISV software within recommended support levels. Track and oversee hardware MCL update installations. And assist in problem determination and resolution.

Job Duties:Prepares work plans, trouble shoot hardware and software incidents, monitors work progress. Develop and coordinate software implementation plans for both IBM and ISV mainframe products. Recommend tuning performance of existing systems. Recommend updates of existing systems for performance and compatibility. Assist in routing of support tickets to the correct department for resolution. Track and maintain system level exit routines. Other duties as assigned within the scope of classification.



Requirements / Qualifications




Minimum Qualifications: A vocational or technical diploma in information technology, or an associate's degree in information technology. A minimum 7 years' experience in maintaining major MVS components, e.g., JES2, RMF, TSO, SDSF, MVS utilities, DFSMS, SMP/E is required. Experience can be used as a substitute for formal education.



Preferred Qualifications: A familiarity with RACF security processing or mainframe TCPIP communications. A knowledge of IBM assembler language for system exits tracking.



Other: Regular and reliable attendance required.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of IBM z/OS operating systems and major subsystems, such as JES2, DFSMS, HSM, as examples. Basic understanding of relationships for supporting CICS and DB2 environments. Familiarity with SMPE for systems maintenance. A working knowledge of the IBM hardware management consoles.
