In December of 2018, the voters of Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School District and Westport Central School District voted to merge by consolidation, forming a new school district named Boquet Valley Central School District [1]. The merger was driven by declining enrollment numbers in both districts, which were expected to continue declining in the coming years [2][3]. The new district encompasses nearly 250 square miles in Essex County and includes two campuses: the Lake View Campus in Westport and the Mountain View Campus in Elizabethtown.
The Lake View Campus in Westport houses students from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade, while the Mountain View Campus in Elizabethtown houses students from 6th grade through 12th grade and the District Office. Before the merger, Elizabethtown-Lewis had about 250 students, and Westport had about 220 students. The combined district brings the numbers up to 474 students.
The merger created a new Board of Education, which is responsible for governing the new school district. The Boquet Valley Central School District offers a range of academic programs, extracurricular activities, and services to support students in their academic and personal development. The district aims to provide students with a high-quality education that prepares them for success in college, careers, and life. recblid en7vjcfwh77fjq49qaafmwwti5d5mz
