Job Description:

Position Summary

Perform duties to load and unload trucks and stage in assigned areas of warehouse. Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Deliver packages to related Departments throughout the company. Process and stage all truck freight shipments.

What You'll Do: 


  1. Receive small packages from UPS, FedEx, etc.

  2. Record and disperse packages to pertinent departments.

  3. Respond to inquiries from other departments regarding shipment status.

  4. Load and unload trucks, using forklifts as required. Oversee other employees loading and unloading trucks.

  5. Maintain forklifts with general inspections, maintain charging and watering schedule report any damages or potential repairs needed to Supervisor

  6. Prepare bills of lading for all outbound truck shipments using data terminals

  7. Secure dock area and equipment at days end

  8. Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifest, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.

  9. Prepare documents such as bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.

  10. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.

  11. Confer or correspond with appropriate departmental personnel to communicate problems such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.

  12. Coordinate with carrier rep to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials for LTL shipments.

  13. Label and process Billing of Lading with Manifest system to prepare materials for shipping.

  14. Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  There is no supervisory responsibility connected with this position.

 

Work Environment:  Warehouse.

 

Physical Demands: The person in this position needs to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs.  This position requires bending, squatting, and reaching.  Use of hand truck, pallet jack, speedy packer, packing machine, stapler, forklift and reach lift.

 

Additional Qualifications:  Fork lift certified.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. 

Monday – Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM

 

Travel:  There is no travel associated with this position.

 

Required Education and Experience:  High School Education or equivalent. One year experience.
