The C-17 Development Hardware team is currently looking for an Senior Design and Analysis Engineer to join their team in Long Beach, CA. This organization supports Boeing's C-17 Program, the world's premier military airlift capability.

We are looking for an experienced Subsystem and Hardware Design Engineer. This position will include support for the entire product lifecycle; including requirements analysis, systems design, lab design/specification, integration testing, flight test, technical sub-contractor management, field support and customer interactions. You will integrate and coordinate hardware and software development tasks for a project development lifecycle across internal groups and suppliers. This role is the Engineering focal for the production and filed sustainment of LRU's and their associated equipment. You will be responsible for meeting the overall LRU technical performance, quality cost and on-time delivery of product and services.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads work with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements on complex multi-tiered projects
  • Leads analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications
  • Leads testing and validation work on complex system designs to assure that operational and functional requirements are met
  • Works with other to develop program test strategies
  • Manages performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Conducts program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership
  • Provides critical support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle
  • Leads research into technology advances for potential application to company business needs
  • Makes recommendations for technology investments
  • Recognized as a business unit-wide expert in process development and qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design and resolving supplier technical issues


This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post - Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 10+ years of experience working with Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)
  • E xperience with the design, development, and integration of complex electronic systems or subsystems
  • Experience in integrating hardware and software components into a functional system
  • Experience with digital/RF communications hardware and lab equipment


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Military aircraft program experience
  • MIL-STD-1553B architecture and knowledge
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Strong leadership, team building and mentoring skills


Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $153,850 - $208,150
