POSITION SUMMARY
Rhoads Industries is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator for oversight of our second shift, 3pm-11pm. The Safety Coordinator will play a crucial role in coordinating and driving the company’s environmental, health and safety initiatives. You will implement the rollout of EHS changes, provide support to the operations team & management, and coach employees on safe behaviors in the workplace. The Safety Coordinator role will also ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements while fostering a Safety-First culture. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct safety and health audits of the workforce.
  • Identify non-compliant issues and help determine corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Track, deliver, and coordinate safety training for employees, including new hires.
  • Verify that employees consistently follow all safety protocols.
  • Analyze and review JHA’s (Job Hazard Analysis).
  • Review and recommend changes to enhance our safety culture.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret OSHA 1910, 1915 & 1926 Standards and US Army Corp. of Engineers EM385 Standards to ensure compliance with present and future laws, rules, regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Report all employee incidents and accidents to the Director of Safety and Business Line Managers while maintaining confidentiality with accident/incident investigations including medical records.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  
  • Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university. In lieu of a degree, 1 to 3 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator.
 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Due to the sensitivity and nature of this position, and as a condition of continued employment, you must be a United States Citizen (Non-Dual Citizen) with the ability to pass the US Navy badging process upon hire.
  • Must possess a valid driver license with an MVR that meets Rhoads Industries’ insurance provider requirements.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Construction Card.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED Certification.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak in front of large groups.
  • Ability to give direction in clear, concise communication.
  • Ability to work well in a team-driven environment.
  • Familiarity and willingness to learn about the tools, machines and equipment used in the workplace.
  • Attention to detail.
 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The performance of this position involves exposure to steel fabricating construction and industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include hardhats, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical conditions including, standing, sitting, walking, and driving an automobile.
  • May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting.
  • Climb and descend ladders and ship walkways with exposure to increased heights.
  • Must be capable and able to enter confined spaces.
