You will be located in either Overland Park, Wichita, or Topeka. You will have 2+ years of operational experience preferred. You will be auditing processes, and looking at inspections and documentation.


What You Will Do


Oversee, manage and develop the Public Awareness and Damage Prevention programs for the organization.


Review and update procedures to ensure all federal, state, and company requirements are met and standardized across the organization for the Public Awareness and Damage Prevention programs.


Conduct reviews to determine effectiveness of programs in meeting requirements and API 1162 recommended practices.


Perform analyses and work with state and area operations management to develop enhancements and communicate changes necessary for continuous improvement.


Reviews and advises state-level personnel on responses to Underground Damage Prevention notifications received by state regulatory agencies.


Lead initiatives that support the corporate strategies to reduce the risk of damage to pipeline assets. This includes identifying and mitigating threats to pipeline assets by determining trends and root causes of damage.


Collaborate with various corporate functional groups to leverage contracted line locating services.


Research and interpret safety rules established by state and federal regulatory agencies pertaining to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).


Develop and maintain relationships with state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure all issues and/or concerns are resolved in a timely and efficient manner. Direct, develop and implement initiatives and processes across the organization to promote consistent practices.


Collaborate with company personnel at all levels to develop effective and efficient processes.


Review and approve publications related to the Public Awareness and Damage Prevention programs used within and outside the organization; work closely with Corporate


Communications in developing and reviewing Public Service Announcements, publications, radio and television advertisements.


Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.


Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.


What You Will Need


Preferred Bachelor's Degree Science, Engineering or an equivalent combination of formal education and job-related experience


Experience in various phases of distribution, and/or transmission field and administrative functions.


Experience with piping standards and design; applicable operations standards; and corrosion control and odorization processes.


Experience with the application of math and algebraic formulas and statistics.


Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software is preferred:


Highly competent with Microsoft Products and advanced features such as Pivot tables and logical statements


Ability to build reports and queries in Microsoft Access and other similar systems Proficient with company enterprise applications (ex. Dynamics, GIS, MAXIMO, BANNER)


Experience and/or training including but not limited to:



  • Interpersonal/communication skills

  • Transmission/distribution pipeline operations

  • Research and recommendations on federal, state, and company policies and procedures


Experience identifying, researching, evaluating, and prioritizing problems or specific situations and coordinating appropriate action/response.


Experience reading and interpreting DOT regulations, Parts 191 and 192; Pipeline Safety Rules; Customer Service Field Manual; EPA regulations; and various other technical documents relative to governmental rules and regulations.


Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.


Experience developing information and making presentations to groups and individuals.


Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English. Minimum Applicable driver's license.


Mobility to travel in and around plant and office facilities and around job sites out-of-doors.


Able to communicate and exchange information; conduct oral presentations.


Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
