REQUIREMENT

ARCTOS is seeking an Aircraft Propulsion Engineer to join our Propulsion and Flight Technologies Team, supporting Air Force and other aerospace and defense customers, including the Navy, NASA, and DARPA. The Propulsion Engineer applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices to develop innovative modeling and simulation solutions to complex technical problems. In this role you will work with experienced propulsion subject matter experts on development of propulsion models.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform modeling, simulation, and other types of analysis to predict system performance, validate existing component/engine designs, and optimize designs to meet or exceed established requirements.
  • Develop tools, processes, models, and simulations in an agile development environment.
  • Collaborate with other program engineers to create, maintain, and modify system models.
  • Support, develop, and integrate a variety of technologies including graphical user interfaces, 3D visualization, Virtual Reality hardware, and gaming tools.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of modeling and simulation tools and industry practices including digital engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Ability to perform aircraft propulsion system design and modeling using first principles. Must demonstrate some or all of the following skills: gas turbine cycle and performance analysis, engine component design, mechanical systems design, combustion modeling, combustor design, high speed propulsion, and engine/aircraft integration.
  • Familiarity with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or other MBSE and modeling tools
  • Familiarity with Agile principles and tools applied to software and/or hardware development
  • Software programming ability in C++, Python, Ruby, Java, MATLAB, or other languages

EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or similar technical field (required).
  • Advanced degree including specific coursework in gas turbine engine design and modeling (desired).
  • 2-5 years experience in design/modeling of gas turbine engines (desired--starting pay within the advertised range will be based on experience).
  • U.S. citizenship with Secret security clearance eligibility (required).

PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Primary work environment is a standard office setting.

TRAVEL

  • Occasional travel may be required and will be under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations and/or Joint Travel Regulations.
