Salary/Position Classification
The purpose of this position is to teach students in the Honors Program through the cornerstone classes of Honors 101 and 102. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position participates in departmental planning and programming, recruitment and retention events and activities, student engagement and community building events and activities, and serves on the Senate Honors Committee as a faculty representative.
80% Teaching: The Honors Instructor will teach 8 courses per year. Courses to include the cornerstone classes HON 101 with a humanities emphasis and HON 102, the cornerstone class with a social sciences emphasis. Preference for additional ability to teach core courses in Women's and Gender Studies topics and texts. Classes will be primarily on campus, in person teaching, with the possibility of one online class per semester.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate coursework with a theme-based, multidisciplinary approach, incorporating high impact practices and a variety of assignment types that encourage curiosity, intellectual engagement, and both critical and creative thinking.
20% Service: The instructor will participate in Honors Program recruitment events and will assist in attending and developing student engagement and community building activities within the Honors Program, in addition to serving on the Senate Honors Committee.
