Adjunct Faculty, Finance (Fall 2024)

FLSA Status: Exempt (salary)

Job Status: Part-time Faculty (non-tenure track)

Position Summary:

The Brennan School of Business at Dominican University is seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty Member to teach FIN 605, Financial Management. This course is required for all Master of Business Administration (MBA) students. FIN 605 explores emerging topics in the financial field. Topics include bond and stock valuation, risk management, capital budgeting, cash flow estimation, capital structure theory, mergers and acquisitions, and initial public offerings. Students will utilize case studies and spreadsheet applications in this course. The course is offered Thursday evenings, for 15 weeks, from 6:30pm 9:30pm, starting August 29th.

Because this course is offered in-person, the ideal candidate will be based in the Chicagoland area to work with students in a face-to-face environment. The adjunct faculty member may work with finance faculty to examine current teaching materials, cases, and software specific to this course.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a MBA in Finance, Masters in Finance, or a PhD with an emphasis in finance is required Applicant must be currently working in a professional field related to finance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of business-related work experience in finance At least 2 years of demonstrated teaching experience (experience with Canvas Learning Management System preferred) Excellent oral and written communication skills Licenses in CFA, CFP, CPA, and/or other professional equivalency licenses are preferred

Responsibilities:

Adjunct faculty are responsible for the following:

  • Adhering to the university policies, procedures, and university calendar with respect to reporting information to university offices
  • Administering student evaluation, timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction, including grades and course evaluations
  • Grading weekly assignments, responding to student emails and phone calls promptly and providing feedback in a timely manner.
  • Preparing course materials, including writing test questions and delivering assignments appropriate to subject matter
  • Meeting with students in-person and hosting office hours
  • Adhering to the goals and objectives of the course, including delivery of assessments to the Department Chair
