Job Description:

Responsible for maintaining the roadways, grounds, foliage and common spaces of the campus. Responsible for the repair and maintenance of equipment needed to perform these tasks and assists in the maintenance of the College motor pool.

  • Operates power-operated equipment such as dump trucks, tractors, sweepers, snow plows grass cutting equipment, and other equipment used in the upkeep of the grounds, roadways and forested areas.

  • Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as lubricating, fueling, cleaning and checking tire pressure, battery, oil, water and coolant levels, etc.

  • Operates equipment such as winches, chain saws, jackhammers and grinders.

  • May inspect work performed by contractors for compliance with specifications.

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • REQUIRED:



    • Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class II motor vehicle operator's license;

    • Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing the operation of motor vehicles and power operated equipment used in the maintenance of grounds and roadways;

    • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures followed in the operation of motor vehicles and power operated equipment used in lawn and field care, snow removal, roadway maintenance and other related activities.

    *A physical examination (at the College's expense) will be required of the candidate who is offered employment.


    PREFERRED:

    • Possession of a current Massachusetts Pesticide or Herbicide license.

    Full-time, AFSCME unit position. (2 positions)



    Bi-Weekly Salary: $1,874.61. Grade 14; plus a comprehensive State benefits package.

    - All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States. HCC is not sponsoring H1B Visa.
