Lab Resource Nurse Manager Salary: $67,047 - $73,751Classification: Administrative/ExemptReports to: Dean of Nursing & Allied Health

The base salary will include an additional 26.5% pay adjustment to meet industry standards


The Lab Resource Nurse's primary responsibility is to provide lab, simulation, technical and theory support to students in the Nursing Programs.


The LRN will coordinate and manage quarterly lab course supplies and lab set up with faculty as well as simulation activities with the simulation faculty manager and additional stakeholders. The LRN will collaborate with the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, Healthcare Division Faculty, and office staff. The position contributes to the mission of the College by supporting diverse students in achieving their educational goals.Essential Functions


  • Oversee purchase, maintenance, and repair of lab and simulation equipment.

  • Collaborate with the Administrator/budget manager to establish, monitor, and maintain the simulation and laboratory budgets.

  • Coordinate purchasing and competitive bidding for supplies and equipment.

  • Direct lab resource nurses (LRN-parttime) or simulation technicians' daily activities, fill in as needed.

  • Oversee inventory management.

  • Ensure sufficient supplies and equipment are available and set up for daily lab and simulation activities.

  • Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors and other health care equipment, medication dispensing systems, and vital sign monitors.

  • Provide theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested.

  • Provide technical assistance, support, and training to faculty, instructors, and staff in use
    of simulation equipment.

  • Develop and coordinate the clinical lab and simulation center schedule in compliance with lab/simulation standards and policies working to prevent scheduling conflicts.

  • Develop and publish Simulation and Lab policies and procedures in collaboration with representatives from faculty and Administrator(s).

  • Coordinate with vendors to identify and evaluate new equipment, software, technology tools, and manikins.

  • Collect data for lab and simulation usage, assessment, and evaluation in coordination with the Simulation Faculty Manager.

  • Set up and maintain computer-based training programs.

  • Maintain simulation activities and learner confidentiality.

  • Enhance student critical thinking and psychomotor development by providing support to students during open lab practice times.

  • Collaborate with nursing faculty in the assessment of student skills.

  • Collaborate with nursing faculty in the creation of clinical scenarios to enhance student critical thinking skills related to the nursing process.

  • Collect and maintain data regarding student use of lab and equipment and student injury reports.

  • Communicate with nursing administrators about incidences or near misses of safety.

  • Provide group and/or individual theory or skills tutoring for students referred by nursing faculty.

  • Maintain written records of students seen for tutoring and communicate with nursing faculty regarding student progress.

  • Support a collaborative healthy work environment.

  • Support student skill checkoff for returning independent study students.

  • Coordinate scheduling of part-time LRNs to maintain daily operations of the lab and simulation program.

  • Supervise part-time LRNs daily assignments and performance.

  • Delegate as appropriate to LRNs the daily tasks required for lab use.

  • Orient new part-time LRNs to the role and train them in the use of simulation equipment as needed.

  • Collaborate with nursing faculty regarding expected skill performance in students.

  • Demonstrate an ability to work and interact effectively with colleagues, staff, students, and administrators.

  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Qualifications


    Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

  • Current, unencumbered, active, RN license in the State of Washington.

  • Current CPR certification, current up to date immunizations.

  • Current Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or if not certified will obtain certification within 3 years of employment.

  • At least 3 years of current clinical experience in Nursing.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Forms

  • Desired Qualifications


  • Experience working in a community college setting.

  • Experience working with simulation and/or Nursing lab settings.

  • Experience precepting students.

    This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday.
