Job Description:

Adient is seeking a skilled Commodity Manager to manage stamping tooling and machinery/equipment within the Indirect Purchasing organization for the Americas. This role will focus on sourcing and managing vendor relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Source stamping tooling, machinery, and equipment for North America.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve cost reduction goals, diversity objectives, rebates, and optimized payment terms.
  • Manage the supply base through strong vendor relationships, negotiations, and selection processes.
  • Act as a liaison with suppliers on commercial and business matters, including quality, cost, delivery, contracts, risks, and technology.
  • Support Make vs Buy decisions and conduct on-site business reviews and audits.
  • Identify market changes and new technologies as a category leader.
  • Communicate progress and results to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure the implementation of new contracts.
  • Participate in global tooling sourcing activities, working with other regions like China or the EU.
  • Travel 10-20% as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Basic: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, or related technical field with business background.

    • 10 years of relevant purchasing or negotiation experience.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and strategy development skills.
    • Well-organized, self-motivated, and resourceful.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interface with cross-functional teams and senior management.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred:

    • Technical tool making experience.
    • Experience in designing tooling, gauges, and tool to press in stamping tools/dies.
    • 10 years’ experience in machinery and equipment, including robotics, assembly line integration, welding, manufacturing cells, and stamping presses.
