Join our team as the Clinical Services Director of Behavioral Health Services. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee and enhance our diverse Behavioral Health Services, including mental health therapy, substance use disorder treatment, wraparound services, and applied behavior analysis. You will mentor and guide a dedicated team, providing consultation and supervision to clinical and non-clinical staff supervisors in managing service delivery operations across Washington State and Oregon, ensuring high-quality care aligned with regulatory standards. This position is located at our Behavioral Health Services office in Yakima, WA. Relocation allowance is available.

As a Clinical Services Director of Behavioral Health Services, your tasks will include:

  • In partnership with BHS leadership, coaches, mentors, and trains direct report staff. Provides continuous performance management and conducts employee performance evaluations. Addresses performance and/or behavior issues, clarifying expectations and providing feedback.
  • Supports staff growth and development. Assesses the educational and experience needs of all levels of staff in collaboration with the individual. Encourage staff to seek educational opportunities by incorporating job-related training in addition to mandatory training.
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff. Provides orientation to outline job requirements and expectations, policies and procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Creates and maintains an inclusive work environment that respects diverse ideas, backgrounds, and styles. Supports diversity through the selection, management, and retention of diverse employees. Creates, drives, and maintains an employee engagement culture.
  • Consult with partners in the behavioral health academic field on the curriculum and content of higher education degree programs to ensure they reflect the current needs of the workforce.
  • Oversees the provision of internships and field placements and provides opportunities for students who want to enter the behavioral health field.
  • Ensures consistent quality of care for patients by guiding service provision to align with governing regulations of BHS services.
  • Monitors program service delivery patterns and documentation and leads improvement by initiating changes in the overall direction of the department.
  • Screens requests for program information, service delivery, and other clinical needs and coordinates requirements and responses.
  • Addresses complex program issues and anticipates potential conflicts, recommending alternative solutions for potential problems.
  • Coordinates responses to regulatory and contractual requests and requirements.
  • Coordinates and oversees internal and external audits and survey requests.
  • Responds to internal and external complaints and concerns.
  • Reviews complex referrals and determines eligibility, priority, and appropriate services.
  • Conducts mental health evaluations by completing intakes, formulating a mental health diagnosis, and developing, monitoring, and adjusting treatment plans.
  • Provides psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, or other appropriate therapy styles to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
  • Provides consultation for clinical Providers and supervisors.
  • Provides support and guidance to BHS Medical Director and other psychiatric Providers.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Supervisors to increase individual staff and program productivity.
  • Performs community outreach with outside organizations and advocacy groups to educate the community, strengthen public relations, and develop referrals.
  • Takes an active leadership role in various community meetings and collaborates with other community professionals in the treatment of patients. Initiates partnerships to resolve both consumer-specific and system-wide issues with community organizations and leaders.
  • Advocates for policy and program development with funding and regulatory agencies that support the consumers and families served by the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Counseling, Psychology, Psychiatry or related field. Education or Training in Management of Social/ Behavioral Health Programming is preferred.
  • Experience: 7 or more years of experience in providing behavioral health services to underserved populations. This includes three years of supervisory experience in a social service or healthcare setting.
  • Professional Licenses/Certificates/Registration:
    • One of the following Washington State licenses is required:
      • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
      • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
      • Licensed Advanced Social Worker (LASW).
      • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
      • Licensed Psychologist (PhD/PsyD).
      • Board Certified Psychiatrist
    • Washington State Child, Minority, or Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Specialist designation preferred but not required.
    • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification within 45 days of hire.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required or Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. This position is not eligible for bilingual differential pay. Knowledge of Child and Family and School Systems. Knowledge of the most current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and multi-axial evaluation. Knowledge of Revised Codes of Washington (RCWs) and Washington Administrative Codes (WACs) as related to the provision of services. Knowledge of developmental issues, therapeutic modalities, and community resources. Knowledge of the psychological principles of learning and their application to treatment stages. Knowledge of the theories of human growth, including physical, emotional, and cognitive developmental stages. Knowledge and training in therapeutic approaches to substance abuse disorders. Knowledge of basic restraint techniques. Knowledge of personnel and systems management approaches. Broad range of knowledge and clinical skills in behavioral health and behavioral medicine. Ability to deliver advanced evaluative techniques of personality, academic, behavioral, and cognitive domains to support a comprehensive treatment action plan. Ability to synthesize data to formulate a comprehensive treatment summary. Ability to effectively lead and manage a department and a team. Ability to provide vision and leadership for the functional department and organization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer relations skills, including the ability to manage stressful situations. Effective presentation skills with groups of all sizes and the ability to convey complex details in a simplified manner. Basic proficiency with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
