MEGI Engineering Inc. is a full-service engineering design and consulting firm located in Portland, OR serving the chemical, pulp and paper, industrial, and power markets. As an Electrical & Controls Drafter/Designer, the successful candidate will demonstrate qualities such as proficiency with the software listed below, experience with loop diagrams and control panel design, and have knowledge and familiarity with relevant codes and standards. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be accountable for budget, schedule and quality of assigned tasks
Gain familiarity with the client's expectations and standards
Collaborate design criteria with engineering team members to gather information required to model systems and components
Coordinate space in BIM model with all disciplines
Interpret architect drawings/specifications, blueprints and construction documents
Utilize BIM software to provide layouts, general arraignments, profile views, details, under close supervision
Set up and maintain BIM with project / client standards
Understand and apply both MEGI and client safety standards in design and everyday activities.
Actively cooperate with members of your project task force, client personnel and members of your department, as appropriate
Establish a professional and, if possible, a personal relationship with key client personnel with whom you interact
Understand client expectations, as determined by the team, and constantly strive to achieve or better these
Meet commitments that you make to the client, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates or within agreed effort hour or cost budgets
Produce flawless work with minimum rework
Look for ways to reduce project cost and schedule and for ways to improve our work processes
Be positive and respectful in everything you say about the client or MEGI or their personnel
QUALIFICATIONS / QUALITIES
2 years minimum of relevant experience in BIM drafting, with 4 being preferred
Experience in 3D Routing of cable tray and other raceways
Knowledge and application of company engineering design and BIM & CAD drafting standards
Experience in creating one-line diagrams, Loop diagrams, Ladder Diagrams, panel schedules, electrical and instrument plan views in drafting platforms
Experience in creating plan views from 3D model
Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, and ISA symbol standards
Familiarity with P&IDs
Experience in control panel layout design
Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), and other NFPA codes, ANSI and ISA standards
Associate technical degree or Revit training program completion a plus
Proficient in Plant3D, Revit, and 2D AutoCAD
Good listening, writing and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and Teams
Familiarity with Navisworks
Typical duties will be performed in an office environment with occasional field trips to operating facilities or construction sites. This requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, computer data entry, normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting 25 pounds may be required.
