JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for leading a cross-functional agile team to develop new features and capabilities for Hub Group's digital products. This role requires collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and smart planning to operate in an agile environment. You will own all aspects of the product from shaping the vision to supporting and managing it.

This tactical role will involve providing high-level vision, outcomes, themes, and features needed for the success of Hub Group's digital products. You will be the heartbeat of the high-performing team. You will work closely with the development team(s) to ensure they build the right functionality in a timely manner. You will transform high-level vision into detailed requirements (user stories) - often anticipating the needs of the business teams. You will work closely with the software development, security, identity, dev-ops, SOA, legacy, support teams from IT while taking inputs from the account management, operations, sales, accounting, and pricing teams from the business. In this role, you will progressively refine product features, requirements, and acceptance criteria into sprint-ready units. You will perform analysis, write testable specifications, schedule and run coordination meetings, arrange demos, and interact with our users on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of performing Product Ownership roles and responsibilities, a solid understanding of various agile management tactics and processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Take the lead of scrum teams as the Product Owner
  • Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders
  • Define product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities
  • Work closely with the business to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI
  • Plan and prioritize product feature backlog and development for the product
  • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared stories for a minimum of two sprints always
  • Accept or reject development work at the end of a sprint. Make a determination if an item was "done" and successfully delivered
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories
  • Lead the sprint planning, product release plans and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities
  • Assess value, develop use cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Answer questions from the development team to help clarify any details as they are developing the application
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
  • Research and analyze market, the users, and the roadmap for the product
  • Coordinate communication with all areas of IT and business
  • Ensure all internal controls and policies have adhered and systems change management
  • Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous working experience as a Product Manager/Owner for 3+ years
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of work experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban and supporting tools
  • 7 years of experience in the IT industry as a programmer, technician, engineer, or project manager
  • Proven success in a leadership role with responsibility for delivery of software development projects within either technology services or software product company
