We are looking for a team member with 2-5 years of experience in the AV design or consulting field, with a high priority placed on a sense of curiosity and openness to learning more about audio/video systems, architectural design, and construction professions. Interest and experience in multi-disciplinary performing art forms such as music, theatre, or dance are a plus.
Essential Functions:
Work with AV consultants to design AV systems and produce documentation including drawings and specifications.
Collaborate and coordinate effectively with AV designers and colleagues in both AV and Architectural Acoustics disciplines.
Contribute to the design process as an active team member and participate in client or user group meetings as required.
Participate in construction site reviews and lead system acceptance testing and commissioning efforts.
Experience/Qualifications:
Desirable, but not all are required. Most important is an appetite to learn and acquire new skills through our work.
Understanding of complex AV Systems and capability to produce design documents in collaboration with consultants
Prior design work with AV systems integrator or similar organization
Experience supporting live production or installation of AV systems
Problem-solving, creative mindset with a strong understanding of signals and systems
Writing AV system descriptions for non-technical audiences
AutoCAD / Revit / Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Designing or deploying network systems or equipment
AVIXA certification (e.g., CTS, CTS-D)
Familiarity with building design phases and construction process
Environment, Physical Demands, and Other Conditions:
The role requires one to service multiple concurrent projects with varying schedules, including multitasking, collaborating with co-designers in the office, communicating with external design team members and occasionally, end-users.
Threshold is willing to support or negotiate hybrid or remote arrangements, but this position is preferred to be located within commuting distance of downtown Chicago, IL. Support for relocation expenses is also negotiable.
Occasional travel is expected to attend to construction site visits and client meetings.
