Purchasing Agent Job Description:
The Purchasing Agent plays a critical role in managing procurement activities and supporting sales efforts for the company. This position is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and negotiating with vendors to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. Additionally, the role involves assisting the inside sales team in promoting and selling the company's products or services to customers.
What you'll do as a Purchasing Agent:
Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data and on-time metrics
Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to MRP needs to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory
Upload purchasing information to update and maintain the vendor database accurately (including supplier assessment)
Maintain communication channels with supply chain - weekly meetings with European factory teams
Perform price analysis for commercial products
Award and administer purchase orders to suppliers/subsidiaries.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, accounting, and logistics, to ensure seamless operations
Conduct market research to identify potential new vendors, products, or services that align with the company's goals
Analyze sales and purchasing data to identify areas for improvement and optimize cost-efficiency
Develop and monitor supplier performance (KPI); ensure best practices and business rules are respected
Oversee and maintain inventory; analyze key inventory control measures to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
What you'll bring to the Purchasing Agent role:
Minimum 3+ years work experience in Business, Supply Chain Management, Sales, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or inside sales
Strong diligence and organizational abilities
Proficient in using CRM software, Microsoft Office, and other relevant business tools
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
Critical thinking skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
