Financial Analyst

*Must live in Charlotte, North Carolina*

Compensation: $55.00/hr - $84.00/hr

Role Overview:

The Balance Sheet Management, Interest Rate Analyst (IRA) team is responsible for reporting and analyzing the Bank's Interest Rate Risk (IRR) profile across various metrics, including Net Interest Income (NII), Basel 3 Capital (B3 Capital), and Economic Value of Equity (EVE). The IRA team conducts daily, monthly, and quarterly monitoring of the bank's balance sheet positioning and performs ad hoc analytics to support Treasury decision-making. Starting with the Bank's spot data position and baseline forecast, the team applies various interest rate shocks-both parallel and non-parallel-to quantify and report the Bank's IRR. The Bank has established risk limits for each metric across the various interest rate shocks, both at the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and non-risk appetite levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Measure and analyze Interest Rate Risk for the banking book.
  • Utilize multiple tools to cover earnings and capital at risk on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Partner with Risk to establish and monitor risk appetite statements and non-risk appetite limits.
  • Perform routine assumption sensitivity analysis (50+ scenarios impacting base or shock scenarios), including static balance sheet, securities prepayment and reinvestment, deposit rate paid and mix, EVE truncation, etc.
  • Conduct OCI forecasting for stress testing.
  • Develop, maintain, and document models, including interactions with Model Risk Management (MRM).
  • Prepare GRRP and EST documentation.

Required and Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • University/college degree with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Banking Industry Balance Sheets.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) is required. Familiarity with Essbase, SQL queries, Alteryx, Tableau, Python, and TOAD software is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management abilities to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships across the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing needs.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.
