Job Description:

Hilltop Holdings is looking for a Sr. Quantitative Analyst to join the Quantitative Analytics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, mathematics, and programming, with a focus on developing and monitoring quantitative models. These activities will be coordinated across a number of key stakeholders throughout the organization, including Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Enterprise Risk, and IT.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quantitative models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Support in defining model monitoring procedures for evaluating model performance and producing recurring reports to demonstrate the models are behaving as expected.
  • Coordinates deliverables for model risk management validations and periodic reviews and assists in the assessment and mitigation of model risk
  • Partner with enterprise data team to develop and maintain database structures to ensure efficient production data for model development and on-going model monitoring.
  • Build and run data queries from multiple systems and prepare data to be used as input for quantitative models and report generation using Visual Studio SSIS and MS SQL Server.
  • Serve as first line of defense for ensuring effective challenge in accordance with the principles outlined in the SR 11-7. Present and defend model results to executive leadership, internal stakeholders, including Model Risk Management
  • Engage with external vendor model developers to understand the limitations of out-of-the box models and make recommendations to model executives and owners when selecting a vendor.
  • Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis to estimate the effects of changes in economic forecasts and other model assumptions.
  • Prepare and maintain model documentation , including material for working groups, executives and committees, user guides, SOX control reviews, and other presentations as needed.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Arts /Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering, or related quantitative discipline required. (Graduate degree is a plus).
  • 3+ years in banking/financial services industry.
  • Strong familiarity with regulatory guidance in the model space (i.e., SR 11-7).
  • Ability to assess model conceptual soundness, identify weaknesses and propose solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in R, Python, SAS, Visual Studio SSIS and MS SQL Server.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with big data technologies and cloud computing programing (i.e., Azure)
