Job Overview:

The Controller role plays a pivotal role in overseeing all financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in our financial processes. This position requires a strong background in accounting, financial reporting in the federal space, and leadership skills to guide our finance department effectively with and for the Director of Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances, providing recommendations for cost control and optimization.

Financial Operations:
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure efficient processing of financial transactions.

Compliance:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial regulations and ensure the company's compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

Financial Analysis:
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in evaluating investment opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.

Audit and Taxation:
  • Coordinate and oversee annual financial audits, working closely with external auditors.
  • Manage tax compliance and reporting, including income tax, sales tax, and other relevant taxes.

Cash Management:
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to meet operational needs and financial obligations.

Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Financial Systems:
  • Evaluate and optimize financial systems and processes, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Strategic Planning:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership in developing and executing financial strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives.

Other Duties: Other duties assigned within reason of current role previously specified.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; MBA or CPA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar financial leadership role, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the federal space.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards in the federal space.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems as a Deltek.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • At 3 years of leadership and team management experience.
