MARKETING MANAGER

San Francisco Office

The firm is seeking a Marketing Manager based in its San Francisco office to become an integral part of our Practice Management and Marketing Department. The Marketing Manager has a solid reporting line to the Director of West Coast Strategy & Operations and a dotted reporting line to the Director of Global Marketing Services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide marketing and business development support to the firm's San Francisco office and cross-office technology industry group, led/co-led by partners resident in the San Francisco office.
• Coordinate and manage a wide variety of assigned marketing and business development projects from inception to implementation with clear communication throughout the process to a variety of internal stakeholders, including partners, as well as in coordination with other marketing/BD professionals in New York and worldwide.
• Working with our NY-based events team, proactively work with partners to plan and execute client development events, including development of targeted event invitation lists and day-of event management.
• Update and maintain the firm's marketing materials, including brochures, practice descriptions, lawyer biographies, website, and the firm's experience database.
• Create pitch books and other marketing materials for potential and existing clients.
• Prepare responses to Requests for Proposals/Quotations/Information for existing and potential clients, including qualitative and quantitative data compilation. This includes liaising with other administrative departments (e.g., accounting, information services etc.) across various offices.
• Assist with client-facing presentations, webinars, client updates and other external thought leadership initiatives.
• Work on local media relations, profile raising and communications projects, liaising with the Global PR and Communications team.
• Coordinate logistics for regular industry group meetings, help prepare meeting agendas and track action items.
• Maintain various client outreach, client activity and industry logs and databases.
• Support client team development, as assigned, including client team meeting preparation and follow up.
• Conduct research and analysis of companies' organizational structures, key executives, news articles, financials, market position, and deliver competitive intelligence reports in relation thereto.
• Work with lawyers to identify and agree priority business development priorities, including existing and target companies, monitor news/developments in relation to those priorities and proactively present ideas for pitches and cross-selling opportunities.
• Conduct industry and geography-specific research projects and prepare market and competitive analyses; help identify business development opportunities and develop client target lists.
• Assist with and support the execution of the firm's strategic plans, including tracking and follow-up.
• Prepare submissions, and manage the submission process, for legal rankings and directories including Chambers, Legal 500 and IFLR1000. In addition, supplement existing league table submission processes managed out of New York, including Refinitiv, Bloomberg, SNL, and MergerMarket as part of the firm's overall profile-raising activities.
• Schedule and actively participate/contribute in various business development and internal meetings.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with lawyers and staff at all levels within the organization, and from time to time with clients and third parties.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial and highly-collaborative.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is critical and must be demonstrated.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter; ability to work efficiently and effectively as an individual and as a member of a team.
  • Proactive approach and can-do attitude with problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability work outside of business hours as needed.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in marketing, business development and/or communications within a law firm, professional services firm or asset management firm is preferred.

InterAction/CRM experience is a plus.
