Job Description:
Job Title: Technology Support Specialist
The Steel Valley School District is hiring a Technology Support Specialist to join our Information
Technology (IT) team in providing outstanding technology support for our students, staff, and
administrators.
About the Work
You'll be responsible for providing day-to-day technology support both in person and via email,
phone, or video. We support a wide variety of technologies, including laptops, desktops, tablets,
audio/video systems, phones, printers, copiers, and much more. While responding to support
tickets will be the majority of your day, you will also create and edit help documentation, provide
training on the various technologies we use, and play a key role in IT team projects.
About You
We're looking for candidates who have a passion for helping people use technology effectively
and have experience providing technology support in an Apple-centric environment. Previous
work in a K-12 school environment is highly desirable, but not required.
You should also be a good communicator, both in person and in writing, with a talent for
adapting your approach, language, and style to people with differing levels of experience. This
means being a great problem solver with the ability to process and resolve issues quickly. You
should have highly tuned senses of compassion and empathy and a drive to constantly help
others.
Key Responsibilities
? Serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, and administrators seeking technical
assistance.
? Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, including network connectivity,
operating system errors, and application issues.
? Assist in the setup, configuration, and management of devices using mobile device
management (MDM) solutions.
? Coordinate hardware repairs with off-site vendors.
? Conduct training on the effective use of devices and software applications.
? Write and edit documentation and instructional materials.
? Maintain an accurate inventory of all district technology equipment.
? Coordinate the deployment of new devices.
? Implement security measures to safeguard district devices and sensitive data. Ensure
compliance with district policies and industry standards.
? Collaborate with other members of the IT team to support the district's technology
infrastructure and initiatives.
? Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address their technology needs and
concerns.
? Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule and Logistics
This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. Your regular schedule during the school year will
be Monday-Friday, 6:45am-2:45pm. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to
support IT system changes or school events.
You must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and your own vehicle, as you will be
working at three different locations across the district (Barrett Elementary, Park Elementary, and
Steel Valley MS/HS).
You will sometimes need to carry boxes of new devices, help install equipment into network
racks, and perform other heavy lifting as needed. You should be comfortable lifting things
weighing up to 50 pounds.
How to Apply
Please send a cover letter and resume tailored to this position to hrsupport@steelvalleysd.org.
Because we value great communicators, all applications must include a cover letter. In your
cover letter, tell us about yourself and give us some examples of how you've provided great
technology support in the past. Also let us know why this position is interesting to you. Be
specific!
