Our Aerospace and Defense client seeks a Quality Engineer (QE) in Southern California. Leading and supervising a team of quality control inspectors, the QE will be responsible for contributing to the overall improvement of the Quality Control team, develop and implement test plans for customer or industry specific requirements, prepare quality documents such as AS9102, first article, in-process, and final inspection reports. The QE will perform dimensional and visual inspection and create and update drawings using Solid Works or other CAD software. The QE will be responsible for Document Control and Production Planning.
The QE will make recommendations to help improve the efficiency of manufacturing and quality control processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, evaluate production methods, and optimize equipment and resources. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of manufacturing principles.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or the equivalent experience, Six Sigma Black Belt is a plus.
5+ years' experience in an Aerospace Quality Control environment
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, assembly, testing, and quality control
Strong knowledge of AS9100 requirements, NADCAP requirements, AS, MS, NSA, NAS Standards, AS9102, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), Aerospace
Experience with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing automation systems
Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Experience with project management and process optimization
Experience in metallurgical properties such as Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Carbon Steel, Titanium and Nickel alloys, and special processes such as Heat Treat, CAD plate, Anodized and FPI
Identifies and resolves production issues
Performs periodic testing
Performs dimensional inspection of incoming parts utilizing calipers, micrometer, ring gage, plug gages, comparator as needed
