Job Description:

The Systems & Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing automation systems and

processes. This role focuses on enhancing plant operations and reliability through advanced automation solutions, including

system design, configuration, and troubleshooting across various platforms like DCS, PLC, and SIS systems..

II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create automation systems to make operations safer and more efficient. Collaborate with IT and

engineering teams.

Develop and maintain control strategies using DeltaV systems, ensuring smooth operations and

compliance.

Digital champion by leading the adoption of digital technologies at the site, integrating new tools to

boost efficiency and meet goals.

Manage electrical and instrument projects, including specifying, calibrating, and maintaining

instruments and electrical parts.

Lead CAPEX and automation projects, ensuring they meet technical needs, budgets, and deadlines.

Provide technical support for automation and instruments, diagnose and fix problems to minimize

downtime.

Look for ways to improve automation and upgrade technology for better productivity and reliability.

Develop and deliver training on new systems and tech to ensure correct usage and maintenance.

Ensure all automation projects and operations meet safety standards and regulations, including

cybersecurity.

III. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCES:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years in automation systems design, implementation, and maintenance within an

industrial environment.

Proven experience with DCS, PLC, and SIS systems, particularly DeltaV.

Strong background in project management and system integration.

Extensive knowledge in electrical and instrumentation engineering within an industrial setting

Skills:

Proficient in DCS and Automation systems.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across departments.

IV. HSE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health Safety & Environmental

Fully participate in plant HSE initiatives.

Set safety compliance expectations for maintenance work through effective planning; communicate

expectations and assure adherence.

Ensure that required inspections of safety critical equipment are properly scheduled and completed.

Supervise staff and contractors that are hazardous and universal waste generators to assure

compliance with all applicable Solvay, local, and federal requirements.

Has the authority to stop maintenance work, if necessary, in order to address HSE concerns

Lead the effort for a zero recordable record/safety performance of the maintenance department.

A person who reports to facility management is designated and accountable for discharge prevention.

Quality Systems

This position must support and participate in all ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSSC 22000, and HACCP programs.

Food Safety

Asserts control of risks related to the product, including but not limited to adherence to HAACP program,

customer specifications, and understanding and ensuring employees follow standard operating procedures
